Oops…I Dropped my Hoop ” The Clock and the Compass”

Thanks for coming to check out the video and for helping me create a buzz with my final assignment in my social media class.
*** Please leave a quick comment on this blog*** for purpose of grading!!

This video was captured in one take, with my practicing incorporating some of my martial art poses and moves ( I was a competitive fighter for years)  into my hooping practice.

Finding my way to be a peaceful warrior.

I have a ritual of stepping into my hoop as a sacred space that increases myself awareness and at times my mind can completely empty. A moving meditation.

Still an evolution.

  1. Hi Allie.

Very cool – really nice blending of music, narrative and action. I was wondering where/who the narrative was coming from but you answered that in the end credits. Good job!

  2. Allie, this video shows your creativity! What a neat mix of martial arts and the use of the hoop, I thought there was only one way to use a hoop! Great job !
Ps I really like how all your posts end with go out and play it’s important to make time in life for the things we enjoy doing
    Cheers :)

  3. I love the audio by Steven Covey…and of course you are amazing and beautiful with your hooping. Snow be damned, get out and play ;)

  4. Hey Allison! Your hooping looks great especially for one take! Thought the song choice and narration went very well with your video, well done!

  5. Nice hoop skills! That’s a very creative video. I really like this line: “on their death bed, nobody ever wishes they spent more time at the office.” :)

    • Indeed! a favorite line from the master Stephen C.

“Mobile and virtual. And a private jet…, = the new office space :)

      go out and play,
      Allie

  6. I thought the male narration was a good idea as we watched you make magic with the hoop. I particularly liked 1:21, 2:33 and 3:07 as I am amazed at how you can just keep it going! That visual goes perfectly with your message which is a great one for this time of year! The upbeat music was a great choice to compliment your story. Well done!

    • Thanks for the comments!! Seriously pushing myself through to finish up strong in this class. Looking forward to the Christmas holidays!

      go out and play,
      Allie

  7. Allie, this was so well done!! Your moves are so graceful, and I loved the narrative. Should have figured it was Covey, glad you shared that at the end. I didn’t know about your martial arts background. Super cool – like you!! :)

  8. Girl, you gotta get some hand-painted lycra and dramatic lighting! My recent trip to Vegas says it’s the key to making zillions:) Nice vid!

  9. Wow. Thanks for the intro to hooping! I’d never heard of it before…I’m going to dig out my hoop from the garage and give it a “twirl.” Your blog looks great…clean, simple and elegant. Nicely done.

    Robert

    • Hi Robert,
You have to make your own hoop, the light store bought ones won’t work as nicely. That is for another post ~ maybe?

  10. I found your video link from JBaxter’s facebook. I’m so glad I clicked the link! Lovely video! I really enjoy your unique and creative style, it’s so playful and fun yet elegant too. I used to live in Utah and had to shovel out a space to hoop too but I always found it so difficult with all my bulky clothes on. You made it look so easy and natural to hoop in the snow! I love the music selection and voice over you used, though the voice over is a bit too loud compared to the music IMO. Wonderful message, wonderful video! I hope you get a really great grade!!! :)

  11. oh, i forgot how fun hooping was…i only have a dozen or so collecting dust in my garden shed. I’ll have to bring them out tomorrow and PLAY!!! thankyou for inspiring me lady!!!

  12. Wow, Allyson, your video is wonderful…I loved the music selection, currently one of my favourites, as well as the voice over as it is very thought provoking. Your skill is amazing and I actually loved that you didn’t reshoot it as dropping it helps us see that it’s no where near as easy as you make it look! Thanks for sharing it with me : )

  13. I think I might be sending this too late??? WOW!!! Alli, You are “The Walk” while so many others talk… What a beautiful performance, music, and voice over. Your talent abounds Girl. I would like to see the kids in the next one. Can’t wait to see more. Your Blog is, as mentioned earlier, clean, refined and, I’d like to add, sophisticated! Now I’m going out to Play!!! Merry Christmas to you and The Family :) <3

  14. Mix 2 cups of narrative with 5 ounces of action, cook on high for 4 minutes and you’ll finish with a stellar product.

Sorry it took so long, spending too much time in the office.
